Carrons, carrelets are " square " steel bells, made in Chamonix. Words very widespread in Southern Savoie and the Aosta Valley, these terms have almost become generic there and in Les Contamines we say encarner and décarner for "putting on" and "removing the bells", carner for "shaking carrons, making a racket".
